Bike Repair POC

This initiative focuses on three areas:

  • Recycling: saving abandoned bicycles instead of disposing of them
  • Volunteering: bringing the community together to repair bikes and share skills
  • Charity: donating refurbished bicycles to families and individuals who need them but cannot afford one.

This session serves as a proof of concept, utilizing bicycles collected from the town council. The aim is to define a smooth and practical process to reuse these bikes instead of disposing of them.

As this is an early pilot, some imperfections are expected. We actively need feedback from everyone involved. Our goal is to test the process end-to-end, document what works and what does not, and refine it so the programme can be repeatable in the future.

Yes, we have a tailored programme for condominiums. Join us during the session, and we will be happy to explain the process.

Where did the bikes come from?

These are abandoned bicycles left behind by their owners, collected by the town council, and held for a sufficient period to allow owners to reclaim them before being released for reuse.

How do you determine who will receive the bikes?

We are partnering with charity organisations and social service agencies to identify families and individuals who need the bikes most. Distribution will be done through these partners.
